That is a very good question. On average studies say that you should drink half your body weight in ounces daily if you are not active. If you are active studies say to drink your body weight in ounces daily.
Example: A 150 lb person should drink 75 oz of water daily if they are not active, and 150 oz if they are active.
So why so much water?
Our bodies are comprised of 60% water. Water is needed in everything our body does. It helps keep us hydrated, helps flush out waste/toxic products in the body, helps lower inflammation, helps maintain our weight, and even helps our metabolism to name a few. So stay thirsty, drink water.
PS coffee and tea does not count, and you should actually add another 8 oz of water a day to make up for the dehydration that occurs from drinking the tea and coffee.
